Police arrest 3 armedrobbery, murder suspects

Owerri – The police in Imo
had arrested three men
suspected to be part of the
robbery gang which killed
two policemen and one
soldier in 2010.
This is contained in a
statement issued by the
Police Public Relations Officer
(PPRO) in Imo, Mr Vitalis
Onugu, in Owerri on
Saturday.
It stated that the suspects
were arrested following a tip
off by an anonymous source
who named the informant of
the gang.
"We were informed of the
suspicious movement of one
Chukwuma Nwanjoku and
he was arrested.
"When we questioned him,
he disclosed that he was an
informant of an armed
robbery gang and has been
providing information to the
robbers preparatory for an
attack.
"From the information he
gave us, we were able to
arrest the rest of them and
the man who supplied them
with arms.
"The suspects have admitted
that they're part of the gang
responsible for killing two
policemen and one soldier in
Amaraku Junction in 2010,"
the statement stated. (NAN)
